Mysterious Livestock Attacks in Tlacotepec de Benito Juárez Stir Chupacabra Rumors

Tlacotepec de Benito Juárez, Puebla – A series of nighttime attacks on livestock has stirred fear and speculation in this rural region of southeastern Mexico. Farmers and ranchers in Tlacotepec de Benito Juárez and neighboring communities report finding chickens, sheep, and other animals dead and dismembered, bearing deep bite marks they say were made by an unknown creature.

The gruesome scenes have revived whispers of the legendary Chupacabra, a creature rooted in Latin American folklore and said to drain the blood of livestock, particularly goats.

Graphic videos showing the aftermath of the attacks have been shared on social media. In one particularly disturbing case, a farmer claims to have found twenty of his sheep dead inside a fenced enclosure. “There were no signs of forced entry. It’s as if the thing vanished after the killing,” he told local media.

So far, the attacks have targeted sheep and chickens, but concern is spreading. Owners of cows, turkeys, and especially goats now fear their animals may be next.

Local authorities have launched an investigation and are urging residents not to take matters into their own hands. Recently, two dogs were found dead—believed to have been poisoned by frustrated livestock owners acting out of fear.

Despite signs that the attacker could be a wild or stray animal, the Chupacabra remains a popular explanation. For many in the region, the mysterious creature is more than just a legend—it’s a plausible threat.

As the investigation continues, the people of Puebla’s countryside are keeping watch—and the legend of the goat-sucker lives on.
