An amateur video circulating in Colombia in recent days has stirred both curiosity and skepticism. The footage, filmed at night on the road connecting Balsillas to Neiva in the Huila department, shows a strange figure described by the uploader as a “creature with human features walking in an unusual manner.”
Captured from a moving vehicle, the clip quickly spread across social media, drawing the attention of local outlets and sparking a wave of online reactions. While some viewers dismissed it as a digital hoax, others suggested it could be a child, a monkey, or even someone in disguise.
In Colombia, however, such unexplained sightings often revive older narratives. Several commentators pointed to the nahual (or nagual), a shapeshifting being from indigenous folklore said to transform into different forms. These stories, passed down through generations, continue to fuel the imagination whenever mysterious events occur.
The witnesses did not stop to investigate and continued along their route. Meanwhile, the video continues to circulate without any conclusive explanation. As is often the case, alleged shapeshifters seem to thrive less on changing shapes than on the ambiguity of blurry images.
