Washington — The long-standing mystery surrounding unidentified flying objects (UFOs), now officially referred to as unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs), has returned to the political spotlight in the United States. Florida Republican congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna claims she was shown classified images by the FBI that she describes as “extremely difficult to explain” and is now urging authorities to release them to the public.
As a prominent member of the House Oversight Committee, Luna says she was granted access to sensitive materials, including visual evidence depicting aerial phenomena that appear to defy conventional explanation. According to her statements, the images do not correspond to any known U.S. military technology, civilian aircraft, or identifiable atmospheric events.
“What I saw cannot be explained by conventional technology. The American people deserve to know what is out there,” Luna said in a recent media appearance.
Growing Pressure for Transparency
In recent years, the U.S. government has taken a more open stance on the issue of UAPs. In 2020, the Pentagon officially confirmed the authenticity of several videos recorded by Navy pilots showing unidentified objects performing extraordinary aerial maneuvers. Since then, congressional hearings and investigative efforts have intensified, aiming to better understand the origin and nature of these phenomena.
Luna has emerged as a vocal advocate for further disclosure, pushing for the declassification of images and reports held by the FBI, CIA, and the Department of Defense. She argues that excessive secrecy fuels public distrust and speculation.
“We are not dealing with simple visual anomalies, but with serious data gathered by advanced surveillance systems,” she added.
National Security vs. Public Right to Know
Federal agencies have repeatedly cited national security concerns as justification for withholding sensitive material, warning that releasing certain footage could reveal classified surveillance capabilities or compromise military operations.
However, transparency advocates argue that carefully redacted disclosures could strike a balance, allowing public insight without endangering strategic interests.

Luna’s claims have reignited widespread debate. While some view them as potential evidence of unknown technologies — or even non-human intelligence — scientists and defense analysts urge caution, pointing to more conventional explanations such as rare atmospheric phenomena, sensor misinterpretation, or advanced foreign technology.
