In November 1996, during the STS-80 mission of Space Shuttle Columbia, astronauts photographed an unidentified object in low-Earth orbit. The object appears near the center of the image, to the right of Earth's limb, standing out clearly against the dark background of space.
Its unusual shape and the lack of a detailed official explanation have raised many questions over the years. Some believe it could simply be a piece of space debris or the result of a photographic artifact, while others suggest it may represent an unidentified anomalous phenomenon (UAP). In the absence of conclusive evidence regarding its origin, the image remains one of the most intriguing photographs captured by NASA during the STS-80 mission.
