The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, often abbreviated as the LDS Church or simply the Mormon Church, is a Christian religious denomination founded in the 19th century in the United States by Joseph Smith. Members of this Church are referred to as Latter-day Saints or Mormons. They consider the Book of Mormon, in addition to the Bible, to be a sacred text and hold distinctive beliefs, including a belief in ongoing revelation and the restoration of primitive Christianity.
